WiLAN Inc. (WILN), the patent licensing company run by CEO Jim Skippen, said its subsidiary, Advanced Microscopy Inc., has entered into a license agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The license relates to technology that provides enhanced image processing capabilities. Potential applications relate to the life sciences, material sciences, and semiconductor research.
The license resolves litigation pending in the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware. The consideration to be paid to WiLAN and all other terms of the agreement are confidential.
Ron O’Brien, a spokesman for Fisher Scientific, declined to comment.
The licensing agreement is the sixth of the new year for WiLAN, after two with Global Foundries, and one each with FEI Corp., BioTek and Yokogawa Electric.
