WiLAN Inc. (WILN), the patent licensing company run by CEO Jim Skippen, said it has reached a multi-year licensing agreement with Kyocera Corp. for undisclosed terms.
"We are pleased to welcome yet another world-class licensee to WiLAN's growing wireless portfolio," Skippen said. ”The signing of Kyocera to this comprehensive agreement is further validation of the value of our patent portfolio."
Kyocera is a leading manufacturer of electronics, including telecommunications equipment.
The license resolves litigation pending in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. The consideration to be paid to WiLAN and other terms of the license agreement are confidential.
Shares of WiLAN gained 9 cents or 6.86% to $1.34 in midday trading. They have traded between 97 cents and $3.29 over the past year.
