WiLAN Inc. (WILN), the patent licensing company run by CEO Jim Skippen, said its subsidiary, Collabo Innovations Inc., has entered into a patent license agreement with Powertech Technology Inc., for technology related to semiconductor packaging.
Ottawa-based WiLAN acquired the patents from Panasonic in 2013.
Powertech is a leading provider of integrated circuit backend services including IC chip probing, packaging, and final testing.
The consideration to be paid to WiLAN and all other terms of the license agreement are confidential.
Collabo Innovations reached a related licensing deals with ON Semiconductor Corp. on Oct. 1 and STATS ChipPAC in September.
In October, Collabo Innovations and Aptina (U.S.) Inc., Aptina LLC agreed to dismiss their dispute with prejudice.
Collabo Innovations currently also has pending cases against Siliconware USA Inc. filed Nov. 10, against Toshiba Corp. filed July 16 and against Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. filed Sept. 8.
